Payroll / Accounts Administrator

The Opportunity
This is a permanent, full time position for a Payroll / Accounts Administrator to join our close knit head office team in Christchurch. This role suits someone who is confident working independently, is detail-orientated, has strong numerical skills and a genuine interest in supporting the organisations payroll and accounts functions.

You will be tech savvy and comfortable balancing accuracy with efficiency while maintaining a positive attitude, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a busy environment. You’ll bring a sense of humour and a genuine interest in working with people, ensuring that collaboration and communication remain at the heart of everything you do
What You’ll Do
- Entering payroll information into the system, such as leave, day to day relievers forms, new employee starts and terminations.
- Running the Charitable Trust’s payrolls in conjunction with the Payroll Officer.
- Peer checking of information
- Providing customer service to employees in relation to pay related queries
- Banking and accounts reconciliation.
- Initiate ideas / new systems as appropriate to enhance efficiency gains in the payroll / accounts areas, including liaising with all affected parties
- Other payroll / accounting duties and/or projects as negotiated with the Payroll and / or Accounts Officer.
- General administration including but not limited to data entry, filing, email.
- Learn other accounts/payroll duties to ensure team is able to undertake all roles when someone is absent.
You’ll Bring
- At least two years payroll and / or accounts experience
- Excellent Microsoft excel spread sheeting skills
- Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Strong level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Able to demonstrate initiative with a proactive solution-focused approach to challenges
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in the use of payroll and/or accounting software package, with Datapay and Business Central systems being desirable but more essential is a willingness to learn
- Experience in the education payroll sector is desirable but not essential
