Kidsfirst Kindergartens Papanui is situated in a quiet street in the heart of the suburb of Papanui. The community is made up of whānau from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds who are active in supporting the kindergarten. Kaiako take advantage of their location with visits to local St James Park and other areas in the vicinity.

The kindergarten has recently completed a major strengthening and enhancement project, resulting in a refreshed centre that is bright, inviting, and thoughtfully designed to support rich learning, play, and meaningful relationships well into the future.

Papanui Kindergarten has a team of teachers who work very effectively together to develop and sustain teaching and learning at the kindergarten. They intentionally target areas of pedagogy through Kidsfirst evaluation and review processes to continually strengthen and improve their practice and the kindergarten environment

 

Start Date/Hours of Work 

Duties to commence beginning of term 3, 2026.

 

This position is  25 hours 27 minutes each week, worked as follows:

Contact hours:

11.00am – 2.30pm Monday – Friday

With an additional 7 hours and 57 minutes professional time each week.

Remuneration

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the relevant collective agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086 per annum, pro rata depending on applicant’s qualifications and experience. 

Individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed. Please refer to the Remuneration section of the FAQs on our website for more information.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Hold a current practicing certificate with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa
  • Have a level 7 or higher teaching qualification endorsed in Early Childhood Education or Primary (or have had your international qualifications assessed by NZQA to meet this requirement)
  • Must be living in and legally entitled to work in New Zealand – NZ / Aust Citizenship, NZ Permanent Residency or Open Work Visa. Please do not apply if you are out of NZ or if seeking visa sponsorship. 
  • Have a current first aid certificate or be able to obtain one prior to beginning the role.
